The Infrastructure Engineer role involves providing high-quality infrastructure support to a large multi-client community as part of a customer-focused support team. You will specialize in MS Windows server with a good understanding of Unix/Linux/Ubuntu technologies. Your responsibilities include ensuring the effective operation and availability of the supported infrastructure, supporting incidents, service requests, changes, events, and capacity issues. You will also be responsible for proactive problem management and root cause analysis, working within ITIL process guidelines.
Main Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to:
Ensure all support calls are dealt with within SLA timescales.
Proactively manage all elements of the supported infrastructure, maintaining high service availability.
Drive down the number of fault incidents through proactive problem management.
Deliver change/project work on time and within budget.
Proactively monitor servers, key systems, and networks.
Perform proactive maintenance, including patching and upgrades.
Conduct backups and log checking.
Strategically plan the IT infrastructure.
Plan and report on capacity and availability.
Provide high-level technical consultancy to customers.
Assist with project planning.
Specialize in Windows Server installation, configuration, and support.
Design and implement storage solutions.
Ensure compliance with documented procedures.
Create and update knowledge documentation.
Maintain flexible working hours, participate in on-call support, and travel to other locations as required.
Qualifications
Essential:
Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, including ISA and AD, clustering, and network load balancing.
VMware vCenter & vSphere, including vCenter Operations, Capacity IQ, and Site Recovery Manager.
Understanding of UNIX & Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Solaris, Ubuntu).
SAN implementation administration and capacity management (HP Enterprise Virtual Arrays or NetApp).
Hyper-V installation, configuration, and support.
Symantec Anti-Virus.
Thorough knowledge of MS Back Office products including Exchange.
Thorough knowledge of backup solutions.
Thorough knowledge of large network environments, LAN/WAN technologies, and TCP/IP.
Clustering technologies.
Strong interpersonal/team skills.
Adaptable attitude, excellent customer service, self-motivation.
Excellent communication and client-facing/customer service skills.
Must be eligible for Security Clearance and NPPV
Full, current driving license.
Desirable:
Solarwinds, SNMPc.
JetNexus NLB Solution.
Windows server patching and security hardening.
ITIL foundation Level qualification.
Previous experience in large-scale Data Centre environments.
Experience providing systems administration in a Managed Services environment.
Experience with network security and firewalls.
Experience with NetApp for NAS & SAN.
Experience with Backup Solutions, preferable Dell IDPA.
MODSC/NPPV Security Clearance.
Required Qualifications:
Microsoft MCSE or equivalent professional qualification.
