Duties

Provides technical expertise, support, implementation, and management for all data automation requirements in the Force Support Squadron (FSS).

  • Systems include but are not limited to hardware and software for call accounting systems, Management Information System, Club Business Systems, Lodging Touch System, Corporate food System, associated microcomputer applications, virtual, private, quality of life, wireless, and local area networks used in the management of FSS programs.
  • The position involves analytical and evaluative duties related to computer networks and/or telecommunications with primary knowledge requirements in information processing methodology, database management, information technology, computer capabilities, and processing techniques.
  • Serves as technical specialist for decisions concerning day-to-day operation, system administration, database life-cycle management, information assurance, and automated programs for all FSS activities.
  • Coordinates a Service Level Agreement with the Network Control Center.
  • Serves as unit Client Support Administrator (CSA) and Functional System Administrator (FSA) for mission critical and unit-specific software applications and hardware, Information System Security Officer, COMPUSEC manager, and a focal point for the unit's Information Assurance Awareness program.
  • Serves as a Telephone Control Officer implementing telecommunications program management.
  • Promotes use of automated systems by providing instructions to functional area users on automated processes and systems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Qualifying Experience:
  • Specialized experience in the following areas of IT network systems: installing, operating, administering, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and systems, network operations functions, communications protocols, and diagnostic tools to recover data.
  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of computer equipment configuration, system software, utility programs and programming aids available to carry out network and/or telecommunications programs, projects, and coordinate efforts with others within the organization.
  • Skill and aptitude in applying IT network development concepts and techniques to provide computer applications for optimal functional support to users.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to carry equipment weighing at least 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • The incumbent of this position as a condition of employment must achieve the appropriate Information Assurance certification within specified timeline of assignment of these duties.
