Duties
Provides technical expertise, support, implementation, management and long range planning for all data automation requirements for the 48 Force Support Squadron (FSS). Systems include, but are not limited to call accounting systems, Management Information System (MIS), Point of Sale Systems (POS) hardware/software, and associated microcomputer applications, virtual, private, Quality of Life (QoL), wireless and local area networks used in management of FSS programs. The position involves analytical and evaluative duties related to computer networks and/or telecommunications with primary knowledge requirements in information processing methodology, database management, information technology (IT), computer capabilities, and processing techniques. Serves as technical specialist for decisions concerning day-to-day operation, system administration, database, life-cycle management, information assurance (IA), configuration and project management for FSS Command Reporting systems and automated programs for all activities within the 48 FSS. Incorporates guidance into the squadron's automation plan. Manages the ongoing operation of the network that pertains to the squadron as a Function System Administrator. Negotiates a Service Level Agreement with the Network Control Center. Services as the unit Client Support Administrator (CSA), COMPUSEC manager, computer systems manager and the primary CSSO, unit focal point for the Information Assurance Awareness Program (IAAP) and equipment custodian associated with squadron systems. Provides life cycle management for Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE). Serves as a Telecommunications Control Officer (TCO) implementing telecommunications program management. Promotes the use of automated systems by providing instruction to functional area users, lead users and alternate FSAs on automated processes and systems. Instructions include subjects such as operating system architecture and capabilities, system generation, configuration alternatives, database management, system utility capabilities, standards and procedures, configuration management, perfom1ance management, capacity planning, and on database and file accessing techniques, search strategies, processing and space utilization efficiencies, database security procedures, and backup/recovery strategies. Operates a government vehicle to support squadron IT issues as required. Preforms other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have general knowledge of the mission, objectives, terminology, and management practices in the activity, the agency and the department to recognize probable area of interaction and overlap between proposed and existing systems. Knowledge of hardware and software systems, network operations functions, communication protocols, diagnostic tools to recover data, analyze customer problems, and provide assistance. Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the activity's computer equipment configuration, system software, utility programs and programming aids available in order to carry out network and/or telecommunications programs and projects and coordinate efforts with others affected in the organization. Knowledge of Department of Defense and Air Force policies, procedures, regulation, directives and requirements related to physical, personnel, emanations and information security.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
