Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, the Environments Analyst will assist the Environment Manager with day-to-day tasks relating to the management of non-production environments in a varied and fast paced role.
This person will ensure that the non-production environments required to support these releases are available and fit for purpose, assisting the Environment Manager on all aspects of managing and continually improving these environments.
The role will involve working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including development teams, project teams, testing teams, technical support teams and business leads, so building strong and effective relationships is vital.
This role will predominantly be split into three key areas:
- Co-ordinating changes to non-production environments to ensure they remain up to date, fit for purpose and representative of the production environment
- Performing a range of daily and weekly tasks to check that non-production environments are functioning correctly and available for use
- Taking ownership of any defects that are reported within the non-production environments, and working with the relevant technical teams to resolve
Key Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- Awareness of server technologies - Windows or Linux
- Basic knowledge of IP addressing and what various technologies are cable of
- Good understanding of ITIL Processes, specifically Change Management, Release Management and Configuration Management
- Broad IT knowledge - a general understanding of "how things work" including hardware such as mobile devices, Windows and Linux operating systems and TCP/IP networking
- Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
Your day to day:
Operational
- Assist with the planning and co-ordination of regular tasks associated with managing IT Environments including data refreshes and system maintenance
- Perform regular checks on the quality and availability of components within non-production environments and take ownership of any defects, liaising with technical teams to resolve
- Produce documentation that clearly describes the components within an environment and any associated operational procedures
- Work with technical teams to co-ordinate tasks associated with the continued improvement of non-production environments
- Perform analysis to ensure the configuration of all non-production environments are consistent, and representative of the production environment
- Work with project teams and other stakeholders to manage the addition of new technical components into the non-production environments
- Review non-production environment requirements for upcoming projects, and work with the Environment Manager to ensure they are fulfilled
- Ensure all work within non-production environments follows applicable change processes, and escalate any incidents of non-conformity
Reporting
- Maintain a set of reports that detail the availability of components within different IT environments
- Contribute to various Service Management reports, including problem reports, root cause analysis and major incident reports as required
