Grade - UE04: £23,144 - £25,138 Per Annum, Pro Rata.

Information Services Group / User Services Directorate / Help Services.

Contract Type - Fixed term until 3rd March 2024, Part Time: 25 hrs per week

Working pattern: Mon-Fri 12-5pm

We are seeking motivated candidates to deliver high quality support to students with a wide range of issues. You will deliver excellent customer service, offering face-to-face and online help and information to users and resolving queries.

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a flagship student support service known as EdHelp in a world leading University. Based within the University libraries, the Edhelp team provides front line support across a range of services including Library, IT, student finance and student administration.

Peripatetic staff work across our 10 libraries to ensure we have adequate staffing available to deliver excellent services to our users.

Peripatetic staff work across all 10 libraries at the University. 6 of these libraries are based in the central area of Edinburgh, 1 is at King's Buildings, 1 is at the Royal Infirmary, 1 is at the Western General Hospital and 1 is at Easter Bush. Peripatetic staff work against a rota which tells them which library they are working in on any given day but also are redirected to libraries at short notice to cover unplanned absences. As such, we require candidates to be able to work flexibly.

You will deliver excellent customer service, offering face-to-face and online help and information to users and resolving queries. You will contribute to the delivery of a welcoming, responsive and efficient customer focused service for students, staff and visitors of the University.

We seek candidates who have a positive, proactive outlook who can adapt quickly to change, with good IT skills and aptitude for learning business systems used in Higher Education.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Customer focus and proven customer service skills.
  • Strong IT skills with an ability to quickly learn new IT applications and business systems in order to support users and resolve common issues.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving skills and being accurate and methodical.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of enquiries (face to face/online).
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently, adapt to change, and to work flexibly in order to respond to shifting service needs.
