IT Security Specialist I

Intertek is searching for an IT Security Specialist I to join our Connected World team at EWA-Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in IT!

The IT Security Specialist I will be part of a team of engineers performing manual and automated testing across a wide variety of products against the Common Criteria security standard. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gaining new experiences with a wide range of security products and technologies

What you’ll do:

• Analyze product technical documentation.
• Become proficient in all aspects of the Common Criteria and various Collaborative Protection Profiles that will enable you to evaluate a wide range of modern technology from a security perspective.
• Perform manual and automated testing with minimal oversight.
• Create detailed reports documenting testing activities.
• Work with IT as well as senior engineers to ensure third-party products are installed and configured properly.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
• Ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment.
• Positive attitude with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Desire to learn new products and technologies.
• Commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service and business integrity.
• Proficient at MS Office programs including Word.

Preferred:

• One or more years of Information Technology experience.
• Experience with networking products.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., TLS, IPsec, SSH, MACsec).
• Practical experience with packet captures (Wireshark).
