During the past couple of years, which have been some of the most important and challenging for healthcare, our BI team have worked to aid the trust in making critical decisions while supporting patient flow and quality of care. This included using advanced forecasting models to predict COVID admissions, creating real time operational dashboards, and gaining access to new data flows. Gloucestershire Hospitals BI Team has gained national recognition, winning the Health Tech Newspaper Award for Best Use of Data 2020 and AphAs Analytical Team of the Year.
This is an exciting time to be a part of the GHFT BI team. We are moving forward fast with our Digital BI strategy and are currently implementing Tableau within the Trust, alongside these ambitious plans comes lots of opportunities for staff to develop personally and professionally. As a Trust we are determined to be at the forefront of change, using tools such as machine learning and predictive analytics in the next stages of our journey.
Graduates welcome to apply – no previous NHS or analytical experience is required. We are looking for a motivated individual who has an analytical mind set and a keen interest in using their skills to improve patient care.
This role is based in the Surgical Team within the BI Unit at Cheltenham General. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, along with the ability to effectively communicate and present complex information to a range of different stakeholders. The candidate will need to be able to work under pressure and be able to prioritise their own workload when there are conflicting deadlines.
We are therefore looking for an analyst who has a drive and passion for delivering an exemplar BI service. An individual who is both forward thinking and solutions orientated.
The Trust is committed to developing staff to recognise their full potential. The BI team frequently runs internal training sessions to share knowledge and best practice across the team.

The post holder primarily has responsibility for the provision of information to both the organisation and our external stakeholders.
This involves working closely with clinicians and senior managers within the hospital to understand their requirements, developing reporting tools and providing intelligence to enable services to make better informed decisions.
The post holder will need to be engaging, forward thinking, and work with a positive attitude in order to build great working relationships with our customers to improve patient care.
The post holder will also be responsible for interrogating large volumes of complex data, and use a variety of software and analytical methods to turn this data into intelligence.
The post holder is expected to highlight any areas of concern with regard to data quality and accuracy and undertake appropriate action as required.
The post holder will work as part of a team of analysts, but will be required to work independently at times and manage their own workload. They will also need to take a proactive approach with regard to prioritising and negotiating deadlines.
