Job Description:

Role:

As domain expert, you will provide regional support to customers of BD’s middleware products and related informatics and connectivity solutions. You will support local country teams in building their knowledge and competencies in pre-sales, sales, implementation and post-sales support processes. As such, you are expected to work directly with customers, local Informatics Specialists, Field Service Engineers, Application Specialists, Commercial teams and the Global Service and Marketing organizations based in the US (Baltimore and San Jose).

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Central Technical Service Support organization, coordinating efforts to develop regional competencies on new middleware products being launched, driving towards local knowledge and self-reliance.
  • Respond to escalation support requests from local teams, working together with local teams and customer employees to solve technical issues related to BD’s middleware installations.
  • Take a leading role planning and delivering regional training on BD’s middleware solutions, updates and solve skills, building a program of continuous learning in the local Informatics community, driving towards regional product knowledge and implementation excellence.
  • Work with Global support and R&D to build a deep understanding of new product updates, driving plans to roll out this knowledge to local specialists, being part of the team planning regional rollout of new products and upgrades.
  • Assist the Global Support, R&D, Quality and Regulatory departments to determine the root cause of product issues and provide feedback on product design and performance to drive product improvements.
  • Identify, through interaction with local teams and customers, product improvement needs, performance issues and key concerns, communicating to European marketing as part of the regional VOC for global teams.
  • Directly support local teams in implementing middleware solutions, interfaces to Healthcare Information Systems (typically LIS). Participate and/or directly manage interface implementations in pilots, projects or as part of training for local teams.
  • Ensure that Field Corrective Actions are properly implemented by local teams.
  • Support local commercial teams with new product releases and assist in projects where there is a lack of competencies in local teams.
  • Support regional software R&D projects, to advance functionality of BD middleware solutions.
  • Perform other tasks as requested, in support of the advancement of the middleware platform development and deployment in the region, in coordination with regional marketing and local teams.

Your profile:

  • Degree in Computer Sciences/Networking/Technical degree or comparable, demonstrable knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent customer focus and problem-solving skills, flexible and proactive attitude towards changing priorities and multiple workstreams.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a field-based support role, preferably with experience in Flow Cytometry, Microbiology, Molecular Diagnostics or BD medical devices. Specifically, experience supporting middleware solutions in hospital or laboratory IT environment. Experience as a 3rd line support engineer is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the willingness and ability to communicate at multiple levels within customers and the BD organization.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, second and third European language is an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of information systems, including computer hardware, Operating System configuration, network design and fix and virtualization technologies.
  • High level knowledge of SQL Server installations and solve, SQL queries.
  • High level of experience with connectivity to LIS systems (ASTM, HL7, interfacing projects).
  • Software development skills, knowledge of database design and programming in C# using the .Net framework is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Remote Systems Management and Support solutions.
  • Knowledge of IIS and web-based applications installation and solve.
  • Proven customer project management skills.
  • Good customer orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter, willing to take on regional initiatives and drive them independently to completion.
  • Willing to travel in Europe and to the US (up to 50%).
