As part of this work, we provide grants to individual people, and we are looking for people who are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of disabled people and people with mental health conditions to join our busy funding team.

As an Individual Grants Coordinator, you will award, distribute and interpret learning from the grants we provide to individuals, whilst contributing to the development and evolution of grant-making partnerships with the organisations who refer them to us across Gloucestershire.

Contract Terms: 1 x Full Time (Permanent Contract)

This role is permanent, and we welcome applications from people looking for full time hours (37.5hrs per week).

We offer a flexible start between 8am and 9.30am Monday to Friday

  • Salary £28,561 p/a
  • 36 days holiday inc. bank holidays

This position is based in our office in central Cheltenham with occasional opportunities for home working

Summary of Key Duties:

  • Review and process grant applications from individuals and referral organisations via our online application portals, gathering any additional information needed to further the grant application to next stage.
  • Provide additional assistance to individuals and referrer organisations to make an application to Barnwood Trust where reasonable adjustments to the process are required
  • Approve invoices and vouchers for payment within the agreed funding amount and forward to finance for payment.
  • Maintain clear, consistent and up-to-date records on our database (Flexi-Grant) and other internal databases.
  • Monitor, analyse and report survey results, feedback and comments from all applicants and potential applicants to the Individual Grants Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Funding Team to feed learning and evaluation findings through to the Funding Policy and Evaluation Manager.
  • Contribute to the development, evolution, and improvement of the individual grants, working collaboratively with the Individual Grants Manager to suggest and test solutions to challenges.
  • Actively engage with Experts by Lived Experience and the Engagement Team in the formation and review of the individual grants. Contribute your knowledge and experience of Barnwood’s individual grants to discussions on how to deepen the Trust’s impact on disabled people and people with mental health challenges in Gloucestershire.

Referral organisation coordination and development

  • Using learning and evaluation data from the individual grants, contribute to the ongoing development of the referral organisation role in the distribution of Barnwood’s funding to individuals.
  • Support the Individual Grants Manager to maintain and coordinate relationships with referral organisations, including contributing to and attending learning and networking events to gain knowledge on best practice and potential improvements to the individual grants.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of organising, processing, prioritising, and planning workload as part of a busy team.
  • Experience of contributing to the ongoing evolution and improvement of a programme of work, suggesting solutions to streamline and improve existing processes and ways of working.
  • Experience of developing effective processes to coordinate projects which involve external stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people and dealing sensitively but proactively with telephone and email enquiries is beneficial.
  • Experience of working for, or coordinating projects/relationships with, organisations that directly support vulnerable individuals is beneficial.

  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work meticulously and methodically, demonstrating attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills (demonstrable proficiency in using MS Office, Word and Excel) and the ability to use technology to achieve work plans and objectives.
