Job description
We are looking to recruit a permanent part time Improving Uptake Officer to join our breast screening team, to develop a focus on improving uptake for North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Cancer Screening Programme.
The post holder will be part of a project which enable providers to understand barriers to accessing breast screening and provides evidenced based information on service user needs, including hard to reach groups.
The main focus of the role will be to identify and engage with those who do not attend and gain insight into the reasons why. Working collaboratively with the management team, Screening and Immunisation team, GP Practices and other key colleagues associated with the service; the post holder will be dedicated to improving uptake and facilitating ease of access throughout the breast screening pathway for service users.
Post holder will be responsible for communications, promotions and stakeholder/community engagement activities. Providing feedback reports, evaluation and recommendations to ensure good coverage, uptake and participation across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Post holder will be required to travel within the screening catchment area of North Lancashire and south Cumbria, which includes Kendal, Barrow, Morecambe Bay, Preston. Blackpool and the Fylde coast.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
