Summer Activity Workshop Leader (WL)
LINE MANAGER: Activity Manager (AM) and Workshop & Teaching Supervisor (WTS)
BED & BOARD: Residential position. Full bed and board
HOURS: 40 hours over 6 days a week
REMUNERATION: £416.80 paid weekly
CONTRACT: Temporary, fixed term
PREPARATION: Safeguarding training and timetabling information provided before you start.
Comprehensive training provided on arrival. Continued on-the-job support given
Overview
Workshop Leaders are responsible for organising and delivering fun, educational ANGLO workshops for teenage students. WLs also plan and lead exciting full day excursions to places of interest. WLs need to be ready to chat with students, encourage them to use English, and make sure they really enjoy their time in the UK.
Your role & responsibilities
Prepare for and lead groups of students on full-day excursions, giving them basic information on the places they visit, and stimulating their interest.
- Lead engaging workshops with enthusiasm, following the guidelines laid out by the WTS.
- Assist with arrivals and departures.
- Help with supervising students during meals and in the halls of residence.
- Assist in the event of an emergency.
- Report to and liaise with the AM (excursions/meals) and the WTS (workshops).
- Supervise and encourage students to participate in all aspects of the programme.
- Encourage students to speak English at all times.
- Report student absences or sickness at the beginning of each session.
- Show sensitivity to the group and individuals and create a positive learning environment.
- Be committed to ANGLO’s duty of care and the welfare and safeguarding of students and group leaders.
- Read and respond to risk assessments for all activities on and off campus and check all equipment to ensure its safe usage.
- Respond to any feedback from students and group leaders.
- Be the face of ANGLO by wearing our uniform, whilst at the same time implementing ANGLO’s Ethos of care.
Your profile
Essential
Over 18 years of age
Based in and eligible to live and work in the UK
Able to attend both a zoom interview and additional training once at centre
Must be able to work between Mid June to Late July
Confident, professional, enthusiastic and able to lead 10 - 18 year olds
Approachable, friendly and able to build rapport with young people
Possess strong communication and organisational skills
Able to use own initiative and work as part of a team
Flexible, creative and adaptable
Desirable
- First aid qualification
- Computer literate and competent with Google products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, GMail etc)
- Experience of working with young people
- Route planning experience
- Enthusiasm for sightseeing
- Relatable degree
