Experienced Bilingual Immigration Paralegal (SJ)
We are an established immigration law firm with an immediate opening for an immigration paralegal in our San Jose office. We have been serving the Bay Area for over twenty years. Our reputation is founded on our personal service and dedication to our clients. We seek a professional candidate with at least two years of immigration paralegal experience who will work with clients, our two attorneys, the courts, and government agencies. The right candidate will help us maintain our reputation of outstanding client service.
The candidate must have:
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently to handle multiple cases in a short amount of time
- Ability to complete standard immigration forms like E-28s and I-589s efficiently and accurately
- Ability to interpret conversations between Spanish and English
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent written communication skills (including spelling, grammar and punctuation)
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- 2+ years of immigration paralegal experience
- A polished and professional demeanor
- Ability to work both independently and with others
- Attention to detail
- Positive, upbeat attitude
- Empathy, dependability, and honesty
- Proficiency with computer use and word processors
- Respect for client confidentiality
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor degree or Paralegal Certificate
Job Responsibilities
- Through in-person client interviews, help prepare immigration case files for clients
- Communicate daily with the attorneys regarding case status
- Communicate with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and other government departments as required
- Perform legal clerical work involving case files and records
- Respond to client emails and telephone calls
