Do you want to be part of an innovative and dynamic IAPT service?

Are you a highly experienced BABCP accredited CBT therapist passionate about providing high quality evidence-based psychological therapy to people with common mental health problems who also has a keen interest in supporting the further development of other qualified and trainee CBT therapists?

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen within the Blackpool Healthier Minds Service for a Clinical Lead Post (Band 8a) to commence 1st April 2023 until 24th April 2024 (Fixed Term Contract).

You will play a key role in monitoring team and individual performance and working with the Leadership Team to responsively implement and sustain strategies of quality improvement.

You will have substantial clinical experience within IAPT services in the NHS, have the knowledge and ability to lead a team of clinicians and initiate projects, seeing them through to completion, with the support of the Team Manager and the wider leadership team.

Please note, experience of working with patients with comorbid long-term health conditions (LTC) and medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) and health care teams is desirable.

The successful candidates will be responsible for clinically supporting our team. You will provide supervision, clinical leadership, consultation, guidance and training to CBT therapists, trainees and PWPs whilst carrying a caseload two days per week. You will be offered regular clinical and management support and supervision.

You will be central to supporting our trainees, providing supervision and training. You will play a critical role in further developing our multidisciplinary team of clinicians, in collaboration with the Team Manager and wider leadership team and realising the clinical expertise required for success.

You will lead on service developments, research and audit. You will work with the senior leadership team and key stakeholders to deliver KPI targets and service improvement initiatives, so the best outcomes for patients are achieved. An understanding and commitment to both the IAPT model and staff wellbeing are essential.

As this is a senior leadership role you will be also required to participate in the Divisional senior manager on call (SMOC) rota. You will have knowledge and experience of supporting staff.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • To provide supervision and highly specialist psychological advice and consultation regarding CBT formulation and interventions to other members of staff which contribute to formulation and appropriate/timely treatment interventions and plans.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, formulation, treatment and discharge of clients ensuring appropriate assessment, formulation, and interventions, communicating with the referral agent and others involved with the care on a regular basis. It is expected that at least 40% of working time will be spent delivering therapy.
  • To work alongside the team manager to ensure that services are implemented in line with the national guidance and the stepped care model of treatment for people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression. For example, ensuring protocols and arrangements are followed for stepping up/down within the IAPT clinical pathway, clinical governance arrangements are adhered to, and staff are supported in the delivery/receipt of appropriate clinical supervision providing specialist supervision of supervisors as necessary.
  • To work with the leadership team and key stakeholders to deliver KPI targets and service improvement initiatives and ensure that the best outcomes for patients are achieved.
  • To provide regular clinical and case management supervision to High Intensity IAPT Practitioners and trainees, and any other professionals in the team as required.
  • To act as a first line for staff clinical queries about referrals, formulations, treatments risk and safeguarding issues and potential patient concerns.
  • To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
  • To promote at all times a positive image of the Blackpool Healthier
Minds IAPT service and the wider Trust.
  • Evaluate and audit the practice of the IAPT service, selecting and using a broad range of valid and reliable evaluation approaches. It is expected that up to 20% of working time will be focused on audit and, where identified with the service manager, specific research projects relating to service improvement.
