A skilled hygiene operative
Scope of Job: To clean production areas to a high quality standard and work in an effective and efficient manner in any specified workstation in accordance with the required working specifications in conjunction with company rules and regulations
We are medium sized abattoir and require a hygiene operative to work with our hygiene team on an evening to ensure high standards of hygiene are adhered to
- To ensure that a high standard of cleaning is achieved on a daily basis
- To ensure periodic cleaning schedule is completed
- To sign off cleaning duties
- To support manager and supervisors during internal and external audits
- To control chemical and consumables usage, to ensure effective use
- To supervise the water usage during operations
- To ensure Health and Safety is adhered to at all times
- To ensure quality standards are maintained through a system of monitoring and auditing
- To liaise with operations to prioritise daily work plan and ensure equipment is available for start up
- To carry out ad hoc projects as required
- Liaise with various departmental personnel and customers as required
- To adhere to safe working practices in accordance with legislation and company rules and regulations
- To work in a manner as to prevent or minimise the risk of accident to yourself or others
- To comply with manager's instructions in a timely manner
- Drying of equipment, floors ceiling etc. after washing up
- Ensure you work as a team member such that you have an effective and close working relationship with other teams, departments and sites
- Demonstrate a team focused approach to work by working closely with your colleagues and by providing support where required
- Demonstrate effective communication and appropriate behaviours with your team members and work colleagues
- Highlight to your line manager any training requirements you have which would enable you to undertake your job safely, efficiently and effectively
- Develop a quality culture of 'zero tolerance' within your department by ensuring
- compliance with all company procedures and processes
- ongoing identification and correction of non-conformance

- Ensure you are familiar with your Job Description and the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that relate to your position
- Prepare for, attend and participate in your bimonthly performance management review meeting
- Comply with all necessary legislation and company policies
It is incumbent upon each and every employee (including temporary employees and agency workers) to maintain and where possible improve the level of Health and Safety controls within the Company. Employees are encouraged to use the Hazard Detection Sheets; and any suggestions of ways to minimise hazards should be raised either through your direct manager, or the Company Health and Safety Manager.
All employees will ensure that:
- They comply with Health and Safety Policy and any other more specific safety policies or Standard Operating Procedures in place.
- They co-operate with the Company in meeting its statutory duties
- They take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
- No one intentionally or recklessly interferes with, or misuses, anything provided in the interests of health and safety
- All accidents, health risks, dangerous occurrences and near misses are immediately reported to their immediate manager
- They fully participate and cooperate with any risk assessment or accident investigation
- They are fully conversant with all Fire Procedures applicable to the area in which they are working
- All equipment provided for personal safety (PPE) is used and maintained in a condition fit for that use and any defects reported immediately to management
- Where an employee identifies any condition which in his or her opinion is hazardous, the situation is immediately reported to their immediate manager
- During the course of their normal duties, they use equipment and facilities that are fit and proper for the intended purpose in a safe, correct manner
- Never operate any machine without its safety guards
- Undertaking pre-start checks of specific equipment on a regular basis
