The role
Exciting opportunities have arisen for Hydrographic Data Processors with all levels of experience to join Fugro in Aberdeen within the Marine Site Characterisation (MSC) and Marine Asset Integrity (MAI) business lines. You will predominately be responsible for hydrographic data processing, as well as producing deliverables for internal stakeholders and client use.
There are currently a variety of roles available both onshore and offshore, the onshore environment being either, shift work within our state-of-the art Remote Operations Centre or on an office-based contract.

Who you’ll be working with:
Offshore you will be working closely with the team of Surveyors, Geophysicists, Engineers, Inspection and AUV / ROV personnel to ensure all survey equipment is working effectively and data is collected efficiently and accurately. You will communicate regularly with the team onboard the vessel and when required clients.
Onshore you will be working closely with the team of Geophysicists, CAD / GIS Specialists, Project Surveyors and Project Managers to undertake processing, reporting, and charting of acquired survey data sets to ensure production of quality deliverables.
Here’s what a typical day would be like:
- Processing of survey data such as navigation and multibeam echo sounder acquired from Vessel, ROV or AUV survey platforms.
- Ensuring processed data is suitable for charting, reporting and complies with scope of work.
- Generating of survey data products compatible with GIS software.
- Constructing survey charts compliant with charting standards.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential
- BSC or MSC or equivalent in a relevant survey related discipline;
- Good understanding of survey and processing principles;
- An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels;
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet project deadlines;
- Good attention to detail, quality and safety;
- Disciplined, self-motivated and flexible team player;
- Onshore and Remote Operations Centre roles require candidates to be Aberdeen based or willing to relocate;
- Offshore based roles require candidates to be based anywhere in the UK.
Desirable
- Knowledge of hydrographic processing software.
