Summary
Installs residential heating and air conditioning systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes, but not limited to the following:
- Lays out reference points for installation of structural and functional components.
- Cuts holes in floors and walls to form air duct outlets and returns.
- Drills holes and installs mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building.
- Constructs foundation of noncombustible materials as needed
- Lifts our hoists and aligns components into position in accordance with diagrams.
- Screws, bolts, rivets, welds, and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores and pipes.
- Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and gas or power system of premises.
- Balances refrigerant in system.
- Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
- Installs wiring to connect components to electrical power source.
- Connects & adjusts timers and thermostat.

Education and/or Experience
One to two year certificate from college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to navigate a smart phone or tablet for various web based applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Qualified candidates will be EPA certified. All Installers must hold a current driver's license.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; high, precarious places; or tight and confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
