About The Role
Chanel is seeking an energetic, purpose driven Human Rights Lead / Program Manager to help support the deployment of the company’s human rights strategy, a key pillar of the House Sustainability Ambition and roadmap on Sustainability.
The role will report to the Global Head of Human Rights within the Corporate Sustainability team, and support internal functions and business teams in implementing practical workplans to scale and sustain social change across our value chain.

1. Research & analysis – Undertake research and analysis on emerging human rights issues in a constantly evolving social and environmental landscape, and contribute to updating the Company’s human rights priorities across our value chain.
2. Policy design & deployment - Support the design of corporate human rights policies and associated guidance documents, in line with the company’s Human Rights strategy.
3. Project management – Support functions and business teams in managing human rights projects to tackle issues such as modern slavery, living wages, gender mainstreaming, ethical recruitment, indigenous peoples and local communities’ rights, or just transition, within our value chain.
4. Business integration support - Liaise with functions and business teams to understand the human rights impacts and challenges related to their scope and activity, and support the design of their human rights roadmaps.
5. Internal coordination – Support the facilitation of a network of internal human rights focal points across the company to build and enrich a joint community of practice through shared return on experience, best practices and technical training.
6. Stakeholder engagement – Participate in consultation with external knowledge and experience experts to co-design practical, impact-driven solutions for the benefit of workers and communities across globalized value chains.
7. Reporting - Support the Sustainability Performance corporate team to update the company’s internal and external non-financial reporting

What you will bring :
- Experience in Human Rights or social sustainability with or within the private sector, with a good understanding of the core Business & Human Rights standards and where they sit within the global geopolitical and economic landscape.
- Technical expertise on human or labour rights issues or worker welfare topics such as modern slavery, living wages, indigenous peoples and local communities’ rights, gender mainstreaming, just transition, with existing knowledge of impact program typologies, methodologies and tools.
- Track record of successful project management, coordinating multiple contributors and workflows.
- Fluency in English, with demonstrable spoken and written communication skills, editing and proofreading skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Previous experience working with or for a Civil Society Organisation or an NGO involved in social impact work would be a plus.
