Job Title: Human Resources Officer

Reporting to: Human Resources Manager

Hours of work: 39 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 08:00hrs to 17.00hrs,
Friday 08:00 – 16:00hrs).

Job Purpose:

  • Lead the day to day running of the office to provide an efficient generalist HR support service to staff and line managers ensuring that the Company’s strategic needs and the needs of the employees are met by the provision of an effective, pro-active service which is administratively and legislatively compliant.
  • Supporting staff and managers with general enquiries, employee relations case management, delivering staff training, escalating complex matters to HR Manager where necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure managers are following up any absence management issues, liaise with Occupational Health and other external medical providers to support employees.
  • Liaise with senior managers and HR Manager with any restructures and work closely during any formal processes that need to be undertaken, ensuring legal compliance throughout the process
  • Completing monthly HR data for the monthly Board Pack.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection procedures by liaising with senior managers on advertising, selection methods and ensuring full process is compliant with all employment legislation.
  • Ensure all offer letters and contracts of employment are accurate.
  • Updating recruitment data
  • Liaising with the HR Administrator with the organisation and administration of recruitment activity including group inductions.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider HR Team specifically the Ellough site to ensure effective/consistent delivery of Human Resource Management in line with Berry Global strategy and UK employment legislation (this will include some work at the local Ellough site)
  • In liaison with the General Manager and HR Manager develop and deliver a succession plan and development program.

Person Specification

The Candidate:

Essential qualifications, skills and Knowledge:

  • Previous experience within a HR team and a good understanding of HR processes
  • Up to date knowledge on employment law
  • Ideally CIPD qualified Level 5 (or qualified by experience and willingness to qualify to level 5). However, part qualified candidates with some experience may be considered.
  • 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above (must include English and Maths)
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be confidential in all aspects of the work undertaken
  • Accuracy and attention to detail; taking a systematic and methodical approach to tasks given.
  • The ability to work on one’s own initiative but also know when matters need to be referred to General Manager/HR Manager.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and at all levels within the Company.
  • Must demonstrate role model behaviour
  • Must demonstrate a good awareness of Equality and Diversity
  • Confident in challenging existing practices and looking for continuous improvement in all areas of work
  • Is able to work as part of a team to achieve team objectives

Desirable

  • Experience of line management / staff mentoring
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience of delivering training/ train the trainer qualification
