Job description
We are seeking a Human Resources Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our busy and friendly HR team in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS). The post-holder will have a regular on-site presence in our Headington offices, with the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week.
Working closely with the two Senior HR Managers, the HR Manager contributes to the running of NDORMS’ HR function with responsibility for overseeing the provision of an effective HR service and the development and implementation of departmental HR strategy and procedures. The post-holder works with staff and managers from across the department, with a particular focus on the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology.
This is a varied and interesting role which combines case work, project work and operational HR tasks. You will work with a range of staff, including the Kennedy Institute’s Principal Investigators, Head of Operations and the NDORMS Chief Operating Officer, and have line management responsibility for the NDORMS HR team’s two HR Officers.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with proven experience of building and managing an HR team to deliver an effective service. A strong communicator, you will have the ability to influence and persuade managers, both verbally and in writing, and develop professional and effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
This post is available until 31 July 2024, or the actual return of the substantive post-holder, or the resignation of the substantive post-holder and employment of a new post-holder, whichever is the earliest.
If a suitable candidate cannot be found for the grade 7 position, a lower grade offer (at grade 6: £30,502 - £36,386 p.a.) may be made to a less experienced candidate, with an appropriate adjustment of duties and change in job title to ‘Senior HR Officer’.
