The Herts & Essex Academy Trust (HEMAT) is a multi-academy trust created by The Hertfordshire & Essex High School. HEMAT comprises The Hertfordshire & Essex High School, an outstanding non-selective secondary school for girls from Years 7-11 with a mixed Sixth Form in Years 12 and 13, and Manor Fields Primary School, a well-established primary school for pupils from Nursery to Year 6. Both Schools are based in Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire. The Trust also contains the Hertfordshire & Essex Sports Centre based on Beldams Lane in Bishop's Stortford.
The Trust is now looking to appoint a Human Resources Manager to lead its HR service and people management agenda. This post holder will be responsible for developing HEMAT’s human resources strategy in collaboration with the Executive Headteacher and ensure that the function adds value to the organisation. The post holder will also ensure that employees, line managers, senior leaders and Governors and Trustees receive an efficient and effective HR service. The role encompasses operational and strategic work and would suit a generalist experienced in the different aspects of people management. The role encompasses a wide range of HR activity, including recruitment and selection, employee relations issues, management of a monthly payroll, HR reporting, performance and appraisal management, reward and remuneration and routine HR administration. The post holder will receive the support of an HR Officer and will be a point of contact for HR queries and advice to a range of stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have some experience working in a HR management role and leading a HR department. Experience working in education would be advantageous, but is not essential. Experience developing effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands are important. Given the nature of the role, discretion, tact, sensitivity and diplomacy are also key. A CIPD Level 5 qualification or above would also be highly advantageous.
