Role

The HR Operations team is currently seeking to appoint a full time HR Adviser. This role will be based in the central HR Operations team. This position will be aligned to a number of University departments, as well as supporting the wider team as the University continues through a period of strategic change.

The University is a vibrant and exciting place to work and will offer you a wide variety of casework, organisational change work and proactive work to enhance your experience and skills as a HR practitioner.

This is an autonomous, customer focused and generalist role reporting to the Senior HR Adviser. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of experienced HR professionals, providing operational HR solutions in support of the University’s people management agenda including: employment procedure, advice and guidance, organisational change and management development.

Skills & Experience needed

  • Substantial experience at professional HR Advisory level, ideally a member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD)
  • Significant generalist HR experience in a large organisation; managing a busy caseload and dealing with complex issues
  • Good, up to date knowledge of employment law and HR good practice
  • Provide effective advice and support to managers leading on organisational change with regards to University policy and procedures, Trade Union consultation, communications and individual consultation
  • Diplomacy, influencing and persuasion skills to engage academic staff and other managers
  • Excellent communication and highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work proactively with limited guidance and to self-imposed timescales
