Purpose of Position

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing excellent internal customer support and assisting the head of Human Resources to drive HR functional excellence, people initiatives and process improvement.

Principal Accountabilities

Administration

  • Supports administration, coordination and application of company-wide human resources policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Act as a liaison between HR and employees, ensuring smooth and timely communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions.
  • Post required labor law information and company communications as needed.
  • Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing and mailing.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, ethical judgement and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive and protected issues and information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a proponent for change.
  • Maintains and orders supplies for the HR department as needed.

Benefits

  • Responds to employee's benefit questions, assists with resolution of problems regarding access to or payment of benefits.
  • Assists employees with paperwork related to filing medical claims and processes enrollment forms and change requests, retirement plans, COBRA continuation, workers' compensation and unemployment.
  • Assists with communication of benefit programs, changes and updates.
  • Support Open Enrollment and other Benefit related programs as needed.

Recruitment

  • Assist with whole recruitment lifecycle, including onboarding new hires and candidate sourcing.
  • Facilitates the hiring process including interviewing, coordinating orientation, collaborating with department managers on new hire schedules and training.
  • Assist in new hire process by coordinating various new hire Onboarding activities.

Training and Development

  • Assist and coordinates training activities as required.
  • Assist with Modus Advanced Safety Program activities as required.
  • Assist with development of Modus Advanced Playbooks as required.

Employee Engagement

  • Ensure HR department is organized and runs smoothly to attract, hire and retain our employees.
  • Support administration of Employee Recognition Program.
  • Assists and coordinates event planning as needed.

HRIS and Payroll

  • Processes and submits payroll information.
  • Troubleshoots payroll issues and timecards; distributes paychecks.
  • Performs payroll related functions including but not limited to process new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments and deductions.
  • Reviews and verifies payroll data in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database
  • Prepares manual checks as necessary.
  • Oversees maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to sick time, vacation and other accrued leave.
  • Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments and employment verifications.
  • Prepares reports as needed.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies and procedures.
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Maintains an organized, safe and clean work area.
  • Other responsibilities assigned, as required.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • 5+ years related experience in Human Resources including experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally in a growing and/or mid-sized organization.
  • Professional HR certification preferred.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous experience with Payroll Systems and HRIS.
  • Basic knowledge of HR State and Federal laws, regulations and practices.
  • Experience with full cycle recruitment.
  • Basic payroll principles.
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook Calendar, Power Point and Word. Basic or higher proficiency in Excel.
  • Basic mathematical calculations.
  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • High level of integrity, initiative and commitment to excellence

Job Environment

This position is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely from home 1-2 days and be onsite in Livermore in an office and warehouse environment. The warehouse area may be dusty, odorous, noisy, and subject to changing temperatures with outdoor weather.

The employee will adhere to all Quality Management System policies, procedures as well as 5S processes, and plant safety.
