We are looking to recruit a HR Apprentice to work in our HR Department based at James Walker & Co Ltd, Cockermouth.

The role…

The role of HR Apprentice is to provide HR administration service provision to the site. We are looking to recruit a high calibre candidate with ambition, drive and the necessary skills for the following role duties.

Main duties of this role will include:

· Developing close working relationships with key stakeholders within the business to ensure an effective delivery of HR service provision.

· Updating the HR system by undertaking key system tasks with regard to new starters/leavers/transfers/change in job title information to ensure the system is an accurate system of record at all times.

· Providing recruitment support, which will involve the development of internal and external adverts, advising on best practice assessment tools/techniques and coordinating the assessment and interview process.

· Undertaking all on-boarding activities to include pre-employment checks, arranging medicals and obtaining references.

· Preparing offer letters and contracts for new starters.

· Confirming resignations and leaving dates in writing and undertaking all administration tasks relating to the leaver process.

· Calculation of annual leave for new starters and levers, to include the updating of the records on the HR IT system.

· Working with the HR Administration Team to provide support in the coordination of the effective delivery of the Occupational Health service provision. Supporting in the organisation of the surveillance appointments, OH Management referrals, recalls and pre-employment medicals.

· Monitoring the submission and completion of absence return to work documentation, ensuring the paperwork is filed in the relevant personnel files.

· Calculation Bradford Factor Scores on a weekly basis, raising any trigger scores with the HR Advisor for action and monitoring.

· Prepare reports and collate statistics relating to HR data as required, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data.

· Completing a Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship.

This role requires someone who has:

· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to build great relationships with colleagues.

· Good organisational and planning skills.

· Accuracy with excellent attention to details

· Sound application of Microsoft Office.

· Ability to work proficiently with internal IT Systems

· The willingness and drive to develop and learn new skills.

· A minimum of 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths (other qualifications or relevant experience may be considered).
