About the opportunity:
Jacobs Engineering is the Nuclear Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield Ltd under the (Programme and Project Partners). PPP is an exciting model to work in with Four world class organisations who have come together as one team, to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.
The programme arrangement is set to deliver ~£7bn worth of major projects creating a lasting legacy through the long-term partnerships.

Being part of the PPP Team offers a unique opportunity to cultivate change and creativity in engineering, safety, and delivery solutions in one of the most complex industrial sites in the UK, if not the world.
The Human Factors (HF) resource will need to be fully embedded / integrated with the HF Team of 17 people. Work with like minded people.
- HF planning / scoping activities for subsequent project phases
- Attendance at key design review meetings
- Providing ergonomic design advice
- HF design verification of operator tasks, equipment design and organization environments
- HF support to Pre-operations function (staffing levels, training, ability, procedures, etc).
- Attendance at HAZOPs and input into fault identification
- HF substantiation of safety significant tasks / operator claims.
HF support will also be required throughout the remaining project lifecycle, to ensure that the operator role is adequate and that the design outcome meets the user needs, accommodates for human psychological and physical characteristics and minimises the potential for human error and violations. This role can be managed by hybrid working, be based out of our Glasgow, Warrington, Gloucester or other UK office locations with occasional site visits to Cumbria. We are flexible on locations.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Task Specific Experience & Qualifications
- Senior HF Assessor
- Significant experience providing integrated HF design and safety case support in the nuclear industry
- Sellafield experience would be advantageous
- Knowledge and experience working within the UK nuclear regulatory framework would be advantageous
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of integrated team
