ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Child & Family Studies (CFS) is one of seven departments and schools within the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS) at the University of South Florida (USF). Organized into three research divisions and four academic programs that work synergistically, CFS currently has approximately 275 faculty and staff members. During FY21, CFS is managing a portfolio of over 50 federal and non-federal contracts and grants totaling $55.7 million. Our research divisions include the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC), Child and Family Behavioral Health (CFBH), and the Rightpath Research and Innovation Center. CFS's four academic programs are Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (CABH), Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (RMHC), and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Six graduate certificates and one undergraduate certificate are also offered. CFS efforts are consistent with the CBCS mission of combining knowledge gained through the behavioral sciences with knowledge gained from the community. CFS faculty, staff and students, who are well immersed in the local community as well as state and national efforts, are deeply connected to the college's focus of Creating Healthy Communities. POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is funded by FL PBIS and Freshman Success. The mission of the Florida Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (FL PBIS) project is to increase the capacity of Florida school districts to implement a multi-tiered system of behavior support to produce student academic, social, emotional and behavioral success. Staff on the Project accomplish this mission by providing on-site, phone and web consultation related to behavior support. Staff also deliver in-service training to educators, families, and service providers and generate curriculum materials and other products for dissemination. All staff are required to maintain documentation of technical assistant and evaluate outcomes in accordance with our Florida PBIS evaluation plan. Freshman Success focuses on providing 9th grade students instructional lessons to set them up for success during the transition to high school. This position will require training, technical assistance and observation of implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Providing on-side and phone consultation related to behavior support. Work collaboratively with school district staff (as well as families and outside agency representatives) to build their capacity for using positive, effective approaches to behavioral intervention (i.e., positive behavior support). Provide technical and problem-solving assistance to district staff in accordance with written action plans at the school, classroom, targeted group or individual student levels.

Delivering in-service training to educators, families, and service providers. Provide awareness presentations; topic focused-workshops, and comprehensive community-based training for educators, family members, and other support providers. Assist district personnel in designing and implementing training activities focused on positive behavior support.

Respond to request to disseminate project materials and other information (e.g., reference lists, articles, manuals); and participate in professional presentations, conferences, and publications.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

Each position assigned to this classification must require specific training at the Bachelor's degree or Master's degree level in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or other field appropriate to the program content. Bachelor's degree candidates must have at least two years of applicable experience. The Master's degree may substitute for the required experience. Specific certifications or licensures may be required or preferred for certain program areas.

PREFERRED:

Master's or doctoral degree in Psychology, Special Education, School Psychology. At least five years of experience working in school settings and/or in positive behavior support or a related field. Experience as a consultant/collaborator with district and school personnel.
