About us

The Institute HR team is a key component of the of the ION Central Professional Services support teams (ION Central Administration), led by the Institute Manager. These teams provide local professional services support in HR, Finance, Education, EDI, Translation/Enterprise, Library, Medical Illustration/AV and Communication for the entire Institute; they work in close liaison with, and observe the requirements of, their corresponding teams within the Faculty and the central UCL Professional Services Divisions.

The IoN HR team supports over 750 staff and c350 honorary staff spread across eight specialist departments in a world-leading centre for neurological research. Our team of six provides recruitment and payroll-related administrative support, employee lifecycle management, and advice on a range of HR matters to staff and managers at the Institute.

About the role

This is a varied and interesting HR generalist role that offers the opportunity to gain experience in a range of different areas of Higher Education HR, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, talent management and reward, immigration compliance, and clinical staff management.

You’ll deliver high-volume, successful staff recruitment campaigns, putting candidate experience at the forefront, and manage employee lifecycle-associated administration from onboarding to the last day of employment. You will work with staff and managers to explore and understand their needs, provide advice and guidance on UCL HR policies and processes, and find innovative solutions to HR problems.

The post is available immediately and funded by the UK Dementia Research Institute for one year in the first instance. As such, the priority for this role will be to provide HR support to the UK Dementia Research Institute Headquarters team, based within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, and then support the HR workload within the Institute more broadly.

About you

You’ll have previous experience of delivering successful recruitment campaigns, preferably within a Higher Education/research-intensive environment, and payroll-related HR administration activities. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is meticulous attention to detail and excellent time management and organisational skills.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

The role is offered part-time, 25.55 hours/3.5 days per week, with starting salary offered in the range of £27,655.60 - £33,148.50 (i.e., 70% of £39,508 - £47,355 per annum), including London Allowance, based on skills and experience.
