We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Human Resource professional to join a small team providing an effective and professional service to a busy academic department.
Reporting to the Head of Administration and Finance, the HR Manager will be a key member of the Department’s senior administration team and will play a part in the overall management of the department’s operations and contribute to the development of strategy, policies and procedures.
The HR Manager will provide an effective HR service delivering expert guidance to managers and communicating key changes to HR policy and procedure. The role will include managing staff training, development and reward; recruitment and
selection; dealing with issues related to employment law; offering advice on family leave, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance; and managing policy changes effectively.
Educated to degree level or equivalent and CIPD qualified, you will have previous experience in a fast paced environment and the ability to handle confidential material appropriately together with an awareness of information security guidelines. With a professional and proactive approach you must show tact and discretion, be confident, capable and accomplished in HR matters with the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of colleagues across the university.
With the ability to work collaboratively as well and as independently, you will have significant experience of HR management working to a high standard in an organised and effective way with excellent prioritisation skills and attention to detail, strong IT skills and experience of using HR Information Systems. Previous experience gained within the Higher Education sector and experience of using the University’s People XD HR system would be an advantage.
This is a fixed-term contract to cover a 12 month secondment offering 22.5 hours (3 days per week).
