Job description - HR Manager
We are delighted to be hiring for a HR Manager to join our small but perfectly formed team! We are an award winning, well respected HR services provider to over two hundred local small and medium sized businesses. We offer guidance and support to help ensure that small businesses get the best from their team and stay on the right side of employment law, which can be a minefield. Our Clients say that we are professional, pragmatic and personable in our approach.
What are the key responsibilities for the HR Manager?
- Developing relationships with your portfolio of clients to support them with their people issues
- Identifying the root cause of ongoing issues and proposing proactive strategies to improve their business
- Implementing new people initiatives through the development of new processes and then working with the client to train their line managers and implement new practices effectively
- Manage employment relations cases with a thorough understanding of employment law and a pragmatic awareness of the challenges of a small / medium sized client
- Work with the wider team to help us to develop new offerings and services for our clients to meet their needs
- Network effectively with other professionals to create additional opportunities to meet new clients
What are the key skills required of the HR Manager?
- Customer focused - and we mean really customer focused. We 'over-service' our clients as we truly believe in building long term relationships with them.
- Well organised and efficient - as a small business ourselves, it is important that we are really well organised and efficient with our time and resources.
- Employment law savvy - for any HR manager being an expert in employment law is crucial but for us it is really important that we understand the law but also how we may apply these laws differently for clients in different sectors and stages of growth.
- Friendly and personable - our clients love us a lot. This is really important. We build strong relationships with our clients and each other so that we are the pragmatic, non-judgemental, friendly business advisor that they cannot live without!
- Attention to detail - for obvious reasons (if they are not obvious, this role is not for you).
- Brilliant team player - being a friendly, trusted, supportive team player who has integrity is crucial.
In return the HR Manager will get:
- Salary of £43,500 - £47,500 dependent on experience.
- 37.5 hours per week, 09.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. We are a flexible employer and therefore, would also consider applicants looking for part time hours.
- 25 days annual leave, plus your birthday off, extra day off for shopping in December and Christmas close down.
- Investment in professional development.

- Autonomy, flexibility, challenge and some fun along the way.
