Contract: Permanent
Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. Where possible, we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.
Salary: Circa £80,000
Reporting to: Chief People Officer
London docklands and an office in Coventry
Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working at least four days across a fortnight in the office.
As Head of HR Change and Governance, you will be at the very heart of developing HR practice and ensuring that everything our HR team does is aligned to delivering business strategy. You will be reporting directly into the Chief People Officer, helping us deliver the HR people strategy with a focus on activities and projects that lead to sustainable change, ensuring we’re doing what we say we will and achieving our strategic goals.
You will be part of the HR Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and have ownership (on behalf of the Chief People Officer) for ensuring the function meets all budget requirements, governance e.g. Freedom of Information requests and complaints handling as well as managing HR strategic and functional risks.
Managing a small team, you will lead on a project to understand the capabilities of our core people system (Workday) and you’ll work with the CIO function to agree on developments and improvements of the system to enable us to achieve our strategic objectives.
You will also manage our change control process and oversee the planning of all change management activities across HR. Whilst the teams across HR will be directly responsible for their own plans, you will bring them together via portfolio management and ensuring there are clear links to how the planned change activity will be helping us achieve our priorities.
As our Head of HR Change and Governance, you will be the interface between the HR team, CEO, Chair and Board of RemCo (Remuneration and People Committee). You will be the focus point in ensuring that the Chief People Officer has assurance on all HR projects and papers for every forum from Executive Team to Board and Remuneration and People Committee.
Key responsibilities
  • Act as the ‘intelligent client’ in the management of our core people system – Workday. Ensuring that our systems are delivering critical capability against the people strategy initiatives but also that they provide a simple, easy to use and customer focused user experience. Working with the key HR lead and Workday Product Owner to plan and implement updates to our technology.
  • Providing a structured approach to managing change in HR, keeping HRLT accountable for what we’ve planned to deliver as part of our people strategy. Developing and managing the change plans that support the delivery of the strategy – working closely with the relevant HR managers to keep working in a joined-up way and providing appropriate updates to the HR leadership team on progress against milestones and deliverables. Keeping HR on track with what we’ve committed to deliver, and making sure we do it in the right way, constructively challenging where appropriate, in order that we change at pace. You’ll join the dots across HR, so there are measurable outcomes to the work we deliver and actively challenge any silo working.
  • Ensuring activity in HR is achieving the intended benefits – supporting the HR team in identifying metrics and measuring progress at key points and sharing data insights across HR
  • Continuously improving how we use data as a wider team to improve the decisions and interventions we make with the organisation to help achieve the people strategy. You’ll work with HR managers and IT colleagues to improve our suite of reports for HR and organisational use
  • Working closely with our internal communications team to support the design, development, delivery and management of communications through a clear stakeholder plan.
  • Working with our internal auditors to develop the scope of audits and overseeing the logistics of any audits within HR including working with relevant teams to provide auditors with information required
  • Support the Chief People Officer by providing secretariat support for key committee meetings such as Executive Team, Board and Remuneration and People Committee as well as internal HRLT meetings.
