  • Accountable for the effective execution of all group wide HR initiatives and is seen as the in-country face for HR
  • Work with leaders to systematically review and quantify role, grade and manpower requirements appropriately challenging to optimise cost control and avoid drift
  • Ensure appropriate reward & recognition strategies are in place to secure the engagement of colleagues and drive a performance culture
  • Advise and coach the Plant Manager and Senior Stakeholders in the UK on the implementation and delivery of people plans to foster a change of culture by communicating with them in a manner which is transparent and creates trust
  • Design and implement communication and engagement activities to ensure that colleagues at all levels understand and respect the business objectives, their contribution towards them, the values and how to act in accordance with them
  • Ensure fair recruitment and selection protocols are in place which meet Group and legal standards
  • Work with managers to implement and embed the talent management process to assure succession and capability plans
  • Act as a talent partner encouraging the transfer of colleagues from one part of the organisation to another
  • Take the lead in resolving complex employee relations issues or provide instruction/guidance to those dealing with the issue on an appropriate approach
  • Ensure that employee and industrial relations principles, policies and procedures are fully understood and integrated into everything the site team does
  • Promote effective employee relations to support business aims with internal/external GMB representatives
  • Manage annual pay discussions with the GMB Trade Union. Develop reward strategies to ensure terms and conditions are affordable and competitive
  • Communicate KPI’s and lead regular people performance reviews to drive improvements
  • Develop and manage the HR budget in line with business expectations ensuring delivery against budget
  • Lead the HR team ensuring team members fully understand their role, the impact their work has and the contribution they must make to deliver functional performance
  • Regularly assesses the capabilities of the HR team at a team and individual level to ensure they are equipped to meet the immediate and longer-term need of the business. Develops and implement training and development plans to address any shortfalls

  • Executes any agreed group standard processes and ways of working
  • Is a credible advocate for the HR function and commands the respect of all senior stakeholders
  • Ensures manpower requirements are appropriately resourced
  • Is proactive in the delivery of Performance and Talent completion in line with Group frameworks and timelines
  • Ensures identified “Talent” is appropriately deployed
  • Manages 3 direct reports
  • Departmental budget within agreed parameters
  • Timely compliance with employment law changes
  • Provision of annual training plan
  • KPIs produced within agreed timescales

Technical Competencies & Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a HR Management post, within a manufacturing environment
  • Ideally hold a formal CIPD qualification
  • Well-developed self-management skills – structured completer finisher and self-initiator
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Willing to travel between the two locations in the UK frequently
  • Understands the impact the HR function has on the business strategy and can provide advice to colleagues on the “people” implications of their decisions
  • Has a clear understanding of how the plans of own and other functions fit together to form a cohesive site business plan
  • Understands the principles of change management. Can use strategic planning, influencing, and negotiation, monitoring and controlling skills to lead change initiatives
  • Understands the relationship between cost, quality, and time on the manufacture of products and delivery of services and uses that knowledge to inform sound decision making
  • Puts together and manages departmental budgets and has a thorough understanding of the costs within that budget
