The HR generalist will be H. T. Harvey & Associates’ second HR professional and report to the senior HR manager within the company’s business management group. The position may be a hybrid of remote and in-person work based out of our San Francisco Bay Area headquarters office (Los Gatos). The anticipated annual pay range for this position is $74,000―$80,000. Actual compensation within the range will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The business management group leads the company’s human resources, health and safety, finance and accounting, IT, marketing, business operations, and GIS services.
Competencies, skills, and experience
This position requires a working knowledge of federal and California laws and regulations pertaining to HR, experience with HRIS and payroll processing systems, and knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations. Other skills and competencies we are seeking include:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Positive and empathetic interpersonal dynamic
- Strong writing skills
- The ability to juggle multiple tasks while remaining productive
- A proactive and persistent approach to getting information needed to complete a process or project
- A knack for being organized
- A commitment to confidentiality
Any of the following would be a great plus!
- Interest in and prior experience with health and safety initiatives
- Prior work with scientists, academics, or other technical experts
- Recruiting experience
What are some of the opportunities in this position?
The HR generalist will work closely with and be mentored by the senior HR manager who has 20 years of HR experience and has been with the company for 9 years. This position represents an expansion of HR resources to reflect our commitment to supporting our employees. It is a combination of internal processes and serving as the primary HR point of contact for employees. Examples of the types of policies and programs the new HR team member will work on are: ensuring we continue to be fair, consistent, and compliant in our practices; serving as the liaison with the controller for the payroll process; overseeing recruitment; leading and modernizing the employee onboarding process; making contributions to the company health and safety programs; and coordinating with other members of the business management group on company-wide projects. The HR generalist participates in business management meetings with senior practice leaders and presents monthly in company all staff meetings.
