In the Human Resources Director, UK & Ireland (HRD, UK&I) role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world. The HRD, UK&I is a trusted HR advisor to business leaders and is in a position of influence on key strategic business matters across the organization. These matters include labour relations, inclusion and diversity, organisational capability and effectiveness, talent acquisition, succession, compensation and engagement.
Having prior experience and a proven track record of operating within a matrix environment and delivering exception results within HR, you will be expected to have a clear understanding of what needs to change to meet future business priorities (both planned and unplanned).
The HRD, UK&I reports to the Vice President, HR EMEA and will leverage the broader EMEA HR matrix to access the regional shared services including Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits and Talent Management.

About You
As a person you will be a key member of the UK Consumer BU leadership team and EMEA HRLT, focused on developing and implementing people strategy that drives UK&I organisational success, aligned to EMEA and Global plans. You will lead a HR team of 7 HR Business Partners, coach and develop UK senior leaders and HR team members and partner with EMEA and Global CoEs to ensure a seamless, holistic approach to people activities in the UK.
You will lead the business labour strategy and ongoing negotiations and relationship with the Barrow and Northfleet collective bargaining unit, partnering with the Unite National Officer so previous union experience will be required in this position. You will be required to develop a robust, risk-managed workforce plan to meet the commercial needs of the business, balanced with the changing profile and expectations of a modern workforce and embed a data-driven, HR operator mindset to leverage metrics and processes to inform HR delivery and stakeholder satisfaction
Providing organisation development and effectiveness strategies and solutions which respond to a dynamic and evolving business organization is a key part of this role. You will proactively identify the capabilities needed to enable the UK&I commercial strategy and liaise with CoEs and leadership to initiate interventions to address gaps. You will execute global talent strategies and solutions for UK talent focused on attracting, developing and retaining talent.
CIPD preferred with progressive HR experience with a focus on leading a generalist HR function
HR depth in organizational development and effectiveness strategies; and the ability to align HR initiatives to achieving commercial goals
Business acumen, presence and creditability as a leadership coach to regional & global leaders as well as to the broader HR organization
Experience executing through a large matrix organisation / indirect teams
Significant cultural change/transformation experience
Demonstrated competence in supporting and facilitating the day-to-day HR needs of a diverse population: employee relations, organizational development, coaching, training and development and an understanding of compensation and benefits
Experience in FMCG or similar industry, including exposure to a manufacturing environment (preferred)
Strong knowledge of legal, employment issues and UK employment legislation
Proven experience successfully managing labour relations and working with Unions while developing a collaborative culture and working environment
