The Department of Earth Sciences is looking for an HR Co-ordinator to manage a comprehensive HR and payroll service for all staff to support the effective operation of the department. The Department, including the Sedgwick Museum, is based on two main sites, one in central Cambridge and the other at the Bullard Laboratories in West Cambridge, see Department of Earth Sciences ' (esc.cam.ac.uk) for further information.
The person appointed will be the first point of contact for all HR matters in the department and provide advice and guidance to staff.
Key responsibilities include: - Taking the lead on recruitment matters. - Providing clear and accurate advice to staff on HR policy and employment relations issues. - Supporting the implementation of strategic HR initiatives including planning processes and decisions, equality and diversity, wellbeing, talent management and Athena Swan. - Provide support regarding visitors and visas in consultation with our Compliance Team. - Line management of two members of staff.
You will be experienced in HR in a co-ordinator, advisor or officer role, have excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic as well as the ability and motivation to learn new skills and keep abreast of new policy and regulatory changes. You should be able to work autonomously and will benefit from a network of HR Co-ordinators across the School of Physical Sciences.

Due to the need to foster a good understanding of the department and build relationships this role is predominantly office based.
