The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) seeks a Human Resources Coordinator with a passion for human resources to serve a mission driven regional planning agency. The HR Coordinator will work on a dynamic team and provide administrative support to the HR Division to advance MAPC’s core values and to help staff to achieve their professional objectives. This includes creating a welcoming environment and being a first point of contact for the Division.
The HR Coordinator will perform varied administrative tasks to support the Divisions daily activities and onboarding processes, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry. They will also assist with secondary research and writing, and the preparation of HR materials to advance ongoing projects.
The HR team is responsible for advancing employee engagement, promoting diversity and inclusion in HR practices, and fostering a supportive individual and family friendly workplace.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
This position provides administrative support for all HR functions and assists with benefits administration and special projects and tasks as assigned. This position maintains a high level of confidentiality and provides excellent customer service as the first point of contact for all HR related inquiries.

Specific duties will include:*
- Maintain data in HRIS system, process employee transactions, input data, and prepare reports;
- Assist in developing and maintaining HR communications, compliance notifications and HR bulletin boards;
- Conduct E-Verify, I-9 Process, and background checks;
- Assist with recruitment and hiring processes, including posting positions, reviewing resumes, and setting up interviews, corresponding with candidates, and reviewing new hire paperwork;
- Work with the team to onboard new hires, including organizing and conducting new hire orientations, creating new hire folders, and any other necessary tasks;
- Aid team with setting up staff trainings and other professional development opportunities;
- Help the department with events and preparing materials for events;
- Coordinate and schedule meetings as requested;
- Maintain and update the HR website;
- Research and resolve routine questions related to the use of the HR policies; practices, and benefits;
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality service; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
Qualifications
Candidates for this position should have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of professional experience in administration/human resources OR an Associate’s degree and at least 3 years of professional experience. A comparable combination of experience and education may be considered.

- Ability to multi-task efficiently and prioritize projects;
- Advanced computer skills including working with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as familiarity with DocuSign;

Compensation and Benefits
The salary ranges from $60,000 - $65,000 depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time non-exempt position.
