The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. Our work is challenging, high profile and rewarding. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. Our work is some of the most challenging and rewarding in government.

About the role

Through workforce planning, leadership development, transformational change, workforce capability and upskilling, employee engagement and talent delivery, our HR teams work alongside business leaders to improve organisational performance and create workplaces that work for people. As an HR Business Partner, you’ll drive significant change programmes and strategic initiatives. Directly influencing, advising and supporting senior leaders on implementing complex change, you’ll collaborate on an organisation-wide scale to embed HR basics, deliver taxpayer value for money and work towards increasing inclusivity within the Home Office to allow us to better meet the diverse needs of our workforce.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll act as the people lead in the development of organisational design, structures and resource plans, advising on options for appropriate talent and resourcing initiatives and supporting senior leaders with Employee Relations.

About you

An established HR professional with significant experience of working with senior business leaders to design and implement business and people strategies, you’ll hold a CIPD qualification (minimum level 5) and either hold, or be willing to work towards, chartered membership of the CIPD. You’ll have the ability to use an evidence-led approach to shape, create and implement new people approaches across a diverse workforce, and have experience of analysing and interpreting complex data to inform decision-making, plans and activities.

On a personal level, you’ll have excellent communication, decision-making and influencing skills. You’ll be adaptable, able to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment and lead your teams and your collaborators through ambiguity and organisational change. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about creating welcoming, supportive, and efficient workplaces that put the needs of our people, and the people they support, at the heart of decision-making. For an ambitious HR professional, the scope, benefits and opportunity within this role are immense.

In addition to current vacancies, we are also seeking interest for future vacancies for the role of HR Business Partner. If successful, you will be placed on a reserve list.

Reserve lists will be held for 12 months, and we cannot guarantee there will be roles available within the period.
