Main Purpose

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of HR Assistants at the 48th Force Support Squadron, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a senior technician and perform a wide variety of both procedural and substantive clerical work supporting one or more military personnel programs, operations, or functions, e.g., recruitment, induction, assignment, training, utilization, or separation.

You will perform the full range of tasks for assigned areas such as assignment, enlistment, reenlistment, promotion, awards, performance evaluation, routine boards, separation, or similar actions and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for actions. You will serve as a technical authority on all elements of active duty military personnel specialties and reviews reports, forms, documentation, and other related information concerning Air Force members and reviews/constructs/maintains military personnel records on all assigned areas. The role involves using a variety of office automation hardware, software, and peripherals to perform miscellaneous administrative duties, special actions and other clerical support work pertaining to assigned area of military personnel.

Knowledge and Experience Required
Applicants must demonstrate the following:

1. Knowledge of, and skill in applying, an extensive body of military personnel regulations and procedures relating to transactions processed.

2. Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters.

3. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures.

4. Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.

5. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with significant ability to deal effectively and tactfully with civilian/military personnel of all ranks and at all command levels.

6. Skills entering and retrieving personnel action data, and correcting data errors in data systems.

7. Ability to interpret and apply moderately complex directives pertaining to the area of responsibility.

  • Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
  • Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.
  • A 6-month probationary period will be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
