Job description
Our purpose is a clear one – we want to inspire people to live an active life. It isn’t about who can lift the heaviest weights, or who can run the fastest. It is about celebrating every win, no matter how small. Personal bests remain just that. Personal.
We know that being personal is what makes Virgin Active great, and our people live for delivering remarkable exercise experiences throughout our club. Each team member at Virgin Active contributes to those wins, from giving expert advice to welcoming service, top tier equipment to spotless gym floors.
A key player in our team is the HR Assistant, who provides our team members with friendly and effective support and advice. Our people policies and processes are in place to make sure everyone is thriving and treated fairly. The HR Assistant is that friendly first point of contact to make sure they all go smoothly.
The HR Assistant coordinates everything HR related. For starters, this involves making sure our benefits admin is correct and up to date. Liaising with our benefit providers, the HR Assistant will make sure that we are delivering our engagement tools and benefits to reinforce Virgin Active as an employer of choice.
We don’t just want to be an employer of choice to team members who already work for us, but for everyone who comes into contact with Virgin Active too. The HR Assistant lives and breathers our values, making sure they are articulated in all communications, be that with our team members, our third party providers and the general public. There is a lot of people to speak to, and a lot of queries to answer, and the Virgin service standards are expected from everyone.
Compliance is also a key part of the role; right to work documentation, employment contracts, reporting data all require a keen eye for detail and a desire for accuracy and quality. We have worked hard to implement people systems to help make sure our data is as accurate as possible, as well as easy to deliver, and the HR Assistant is core to making sure our systems are kept to a high standard.
There is no bones about it – this role is a busy one. From looking after our team member benefits, to administrating our people systems, to maintaining compliance, this role cover all of the essential HR processes. There is a benefit to this however – you will learn an absolute ton! And for the right person, this is an opportunity to advance their HR knowledge, and their career too.
The HR team are a conscientious bunch (although we are writing this, so may be biased), and pretty sociable too! We are looking for a person to join our team who rolls their sleeves up and gets stuck in, looks for opportunities rather than problems, and is passionate about people having a positive experience at work. Our team members work hard, and that should always be reciprocated with an encouraging work environment.
Virgin Active are the experts in delivering inspiring exercise experiences. This is because we are filled to the brim with diverse experience and diverse people. We believe that you can truly be yourself at Virgin Active, and love all of the things that make us unique. We actively encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
