Applications are invited for the position of HR Assistant at the Faculty of Education. The Faculty of Education is one of the largest groups of educational researchers and teacher educators in the country. Currently, the Faculty has an academic staff of 21 Professors and over 30 Assistant and Associate Professors, and over 90 research and other teaching staff. There are approximately 70 assistant staff in support of teaching, research, outreach projects, finance, library, IT, audio-visual, buildings, etc. Reporting to the HR Manager, the role holder will be responsible for providing first line HR support for the daily HR operations within the Faculty. This is an exciting role and opportunity for someone seeking broader generalist HR development and experience within the HR remit. Acting as a first point of contact for daily HR requests, it is an interesting and varied position with the opportunity to also assist with the administration and development of new HR projects. The successful candidate will be educated to A-level standard or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills, as well as the ability to meet deadlines are essential, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy whilst dealing with confidential information. The role holder will be able to work both independently and in a team, use their own initiative, and have a proactive can-do attitude, with demonstrable knowledge of HR best practice. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment, knowledge of basic employment law and using HR database systems would be advantageous. The role is based in the Donald McIntyre Building, a purpose-built modern facility situated near Homerton College's grounds. Located just south of Cambridge city centre and train station it is easily accessible by public transport. Parking is also available on-site.
