Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week/ 70 hours over two weeks (nine-day fortnight)

The role


We are currently looking to recruit a full time HR Assistant to join our People and Culture team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a HR professional or someone with some legal training or experience looking to develop their career. This role will work within the HR Assistant team and also provide legal administrative and assistant support to our in-house employment legal counsel.


In this role you will provide an impeccable HR service to the business on a wide range of HR processes which support with the resolution of 1st level HR queries, in addition to managing employment relations cases and project support.


The successful candidate will also be required to support with legal research, providing administrative support for Employment Tribunal litigation, assisting in the preparation of internal training courses and materials and supporting legal counsel on HR related legal projects.


This is a home based role, although some infrequent visits to our Head Office in Birmingham (or other Housing 21 locations) may be required for collaboration or team meetings.

What we’re looking for


The essential requirements for the role include:


  • Experience of working in a HR role or an employment law advisory role with knowledge of HR processes and policies covering a variety of HR activities.
  • Experience in employment law or supporting on legal HR issues is desirable.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, high-volume environment and delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Able to work as part of a team and is a team player who values making a contribution to others and the business.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and feel confident to share ideas and contribute to business improvement.
  • An impeccable attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and work proactively to manage workload.
  • Good organisation, time management and balancing competing priorities
  • Experience of working with a HR system. (Resource Link, My View and Hornbill is desirable)
