The HR Assistant is positioned in the Human Resources department and has a reporting line to the Country HR Director.
The mission of HR UK is to provide a responsive, business aligned HR service to ABN employees and businesses.
Your job
To support the HR Business Partners in respect of day to day and strategic activity:
- Working in conjunction with onsite recruiters and HR Admin to ensure a smooth onboarding process
- Supporting Employee Lifecycle events such as end of probation, family leave, leavers processes (including exit interviews)
- Assisting with Learning Development to ensure a smooth and effective programme across the UK business (both individual and team based)
- Understanding and supporting the delivery of HR policies both local and global. Considering ways in which to continuously improve these.
- Providing key stakeholders with HR policy and process advice, escalating to the HR Business Partner team as appropriate
- Supporting key stakeholders with day to day performance management queries; advising in relation to continuous performance dialogue and processes as required
- Preparing reports as required to support and deliver the best possible service to stakeholders
- Responding to the HR Support mailbox as required
- Working in partnership with the HR Business Partners, the Compensation and Benefits team and the business to ensure the delivery of projects and services in line with the HR strategy and business strategies
- Building and maintaining effecting working relationships with stakeholders (both locally and internationally)
- Assisting with the implementation of HR deliverables as required to ensure effective stakeholder management
- Supporting the development of a high performance culture and building organisational capability within the business
- Assisting with the annual salary review and bonus process as appropriate
- Assisting with HR department risk oversight and reporting as required. Collective responsibility as a team member to ensure that all processes and procedures are in line with Internal Audit standards and best practice.

ABN AMRO UK is part of the Corporate Banking business line and operates the following businesses in the UK:
- Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Clearing, Global Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions
- Commercial Banking which includes Asset Based Finance and International Desk, which provides transactional banking services
Our business lines are supported by a number of functions such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Finance (Including Tax), Business Management and Human Resources. We currently employ approx. 380 people in the UK.
Your profile
- Qualified CIPD / Degree educated preferred
- Previous experience within HR
- Accuracy in drafting human resources related documentation
- Organised with the ability to respond quickly and patiently to requests from the business
- Working knowledge of HR systems preferable
- Advanced Microsoft office skills (word, excel, powerpoint)
- Knowledge of employment law and preferably some awareness of the regulatory framework as it relates to HR
- Customer minded with excellent service orientation
- Proactive with the ability to support projects and anticipate business needs
- Excellent team player with a strong focus on working together to achieve results
- Responds positively to change and adapts job role accordingly; helps others to see the benefits of implementing change
- Ability to interact professionally and with credibility with all levels of clients (internal and external if necessary)
- Excellent face-to-face, telephone, and written communication skills
- Ability to remain professional and calm
- Ability to present a positive image of the HR department (and ABN AMRO in general) at all times
