The Opportunity

The HR Advisor will work closely with the members and the wider People team.

The main responsibilities revolve around providing advice, support, administration, and coordination for a specific geography aligning with the principles outlined in the People Plan and collaborating with the central People Services team.

The HR Advisor will support all cyclical and member life cycle activities for an assigned sub-region, providing expert advice, coordination of people processes, and ensuring data integrity. You will work closely with the Operational People Partner, contribute to People Programs, and manage sickness absence and Employee Relations cases. Additionally, they handle immigration and visa requirements, supporting members with right-to-work processes.

This is a 12 months Fixed term contract based in our Newcastle office.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are confident and have effective communication skills to provide advice and coordinate people activities.
  • Have business awareness, including knowledge of the environment and markets in which Arup operates.
  • Sound judgment, ability to understand context, build relationships, and make connections.
  • Proactive approach to enable and empower members, encouraging self-service.
  • Experience working with HR systems and IT software, along with a willingness to embrace and understand new technologies for operational excellence.

Other important qualities include adaptability to change, a focus on continuous improvement, the ability to challenge and add value, strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to personal development, and preferably studying towards a CIPD qualification. Experience in a similar environment or role is also valued.
