Salary: £28,851.00 – £33,843.00 per year (pro-rata)
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Operational HR Team as a Human Resources Adviser. The majority of the team work from Maidstone, but place of work will be discussed with the successful applicant. This role is part-time, covering 23.68 hours per week (working days/hours to be discussed with the successful applicant).
You will demonstrate a passion for providing high levels of customer service to both internal and external customers, have personal drive to ensure you add value to operational policing and demonstrate your ability to provide a pro-active approach to problem-solving, change and attendance and performance management.
The primary responsibilities for the role include the provision of expert guidance, advice and coaching to managers at all levels within the organisation on a broad range of general HR activities. This includes participating in formal processes such as grievance, discipline and capability processes, co-ordinating activities in respect of attendance issues and supporting managers and staff through change processes.
You will be critical to coaching and guiding line managers to develop their understanding and skills, therefore the ability to coach, develop and train managers on a range of general HR activities is essential.
Previous experience within a similar level HR role is essential and you must be
- qualified at least to CIPD level 3 Certificate in Human Resources Practice or
- NVQ/SVQ level 3 or
- be able to evidence relevant and recent HR experience at this level
A strong foundation knowledge of employment law and its application is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential as is the ability to influence and produce persuasive arguments when providing advice and guidance to managers.
This is a demanding role, and you will need to enjoy working under pressure, be able to manage and prioritise your workload to ensure deadlines are achieved and work effectively as part of a team.
You will need to demonstrate within your application:
- previous experience in HR role at this level including knowledge and application of employment law
- knowledge and understanding of HR policies and procedures
- CIPD Certificate in Human Resources Practice or NVQ/SVQ level 3
- evidence of ability to influence and evidence of high level of personal responsibility
The base location of work for this position will be within Kent however you must be able to travel, on occasion, to other locations within Essex and Kent.
As mentioned in the advert, the role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home if you would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a designated ‘Team Zone’ location on average one or two days a week, as agreed with the line manager. Currently the designated 'Team Zone' location for this role is at Maidstone Police Station, but this can be discussed with you.
