University of Cambridge
Full Time Cambridge, East of England, England 24285 - 27929 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

The Department:

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS) are large departments with around 50 and 40 academics (professors, readers and lecturers) respectively and almost 100 and 40 contract research staff respectively. We are very pleased to be expanding our Professional Support Staff team with this new role and are currently advertising two further roles (Assistant to the Business and Operations Manager and Finance Coordinator).

The Role:

You will join a small, busy team of HR Administrators who provide full support for all HR functions in both Departments. Working closely with the HR Office Manager as well as autonomously, the role holder will deal with a wide range of tasks and take the lead in several, more specific areas of HR administration such as recruitment administration, the end of contracts process and the senior academic promotions exercise.

About you:

You will be educated to 'A' level standard or equivalent, have experience of maintaining office systems and office procedures and possess good IT skills. Excellent organisational skills, a keen attention to detail and confidence and tact in dealing with people at all levels are essential, as is the ability to deliver a high level of customer service. The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is highly desirable. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment and some experience in HR would be an advantage, but full training will be given.
