Job description

We specialise in providing financial services to some of the nation’s most trusted professions: GPs, hospital doctors, dentists and teachers, and have been doing this since 1841. Our customers are extraordinary - the people who shape the world we live in for the better. We choose to shape our world around the exceptional.

We currently employ around 1400 people, and our success comes from a history of evolving to embrace new challenges. Transformation is key to how we work, so no matter what your job title might be, if you are someone who can help us shape the future, you’ll fit right in and have a voice here.

We are proud supporters of the ABI Making Flexible Work campaign which means we are open to discuss flexible working, job shares and part time options. We also support hybrid ways of working, where you can split your week working from home and typically spending one day a week our iconic Birmingham city centre office.

Your Role:

We are excited to offer the opportunity for two Administrators to take the step towards a career in HR and build on existing skills. This is a fantastic “foot in the door” opportunity, as we’ll offer you all the on the job training you need in a busy but friendly environment, alongside the potential for a formal HR apprenticeship within this role.

Unlike many HR Administration roles, you won’t just be on hand for first line advice here- you’ll be exposed to all aspects of the Employee Life Cycle, working closely with HR Business Partners, Reward Specialists and our Recruitment team. You’ll join a supportive, organised and dynamic team where there is often opportunity to get stuck in to project work, ER work and payroll activities.

We look to our team members to contribute ideas to improve our ways of working, everyone has a voice here, and we work hard to provide training and support so that our colleagues are successful.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responding to general HR queries relating to HR processes, payroll, benefits, expenses, and HR policies
  • Processing payroll accurately and in line with deadlines
  • Processing offers of employment
  • Undertake employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including conducting background checks/verification of employment eligibility
  • Supporting HR System administration, including responding to access queries and general

We know the best teams are made up of inclusive groups of diverse people where everyone’s contribution counts, and we believe everyone has the right to proudly be themselves. We’re building a culture where difference is actively encouraged and simply recruit the best people for the job irrespective of lifestyle, life history and life choices.

We’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable Administration experience- ideally within a HR environment, but if you’ve worked in a busy high-volume role and have the transferable skills below- we’d love to hear from you
  • Ability to work well at pace, dealing with conflicting priorities at short notice- you’ll be able to react quickly, adapt and be agile in your approach to work
  • Flexible and keen desire to learn
  • Highly Numerate- Ability to analyse numbers and confident with data
  • Working experience and confident with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with others to achieve team goals and objectives
  • Excellent levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • It would be advantageous if you have any level of CIPD qualification, and/or Payroll or Onboarding experience, however this is not essential to be successful with us, as we’re happy to offer this opportunity to the right person who is motivated to learn and work towards a career in HR

The financials on offer:

  • Annual salary of up to £23,000 per annum (dependent on experience), reviewed annually
  • Annual Performance based Bonus
  • A great pension scheme – company matched plus 2% (up to 10%).
