The Wellcome/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and well organised HR Administrator.
The Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute, renowned for its research at the interface between developmental biology and cancer biology. With core funding from Wellcome and Cancer Research UK, the Institute is a friendly, vibrant and exciting place to work. There are around 300 people in its self-contained building, comprising 16 research group leaders, 250 scientific staff including PhD students, and 40 support staff.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills and they will be a competent user of Microsoft Office. They will be self-motivated and reliable and will have previous administrative experience and be used to dealing with confidential information. A good general knowledge surrounding the concepts and principles of HR administration along with the desire to learn and develop further skills in this area is highly desirable. Knowledge of university HR systems would also be an advantage.
Main duties will include:
- Providing HR administrative support
- Administering and updating various HR systems for recruitment, sickness, annual leave, probation, staff reviews, staff records etc
- Completing HR and payroll paperwork as required
- Acting as first point of contact for HR-related queries
- Contributing to inductions for new members of the Institute
- Setting up visitor agreements
- Acting as secretary for the WIDE Committee (Wellbeing, Inclusivity, Diversity and Equality)

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 May 2024 in the first instance.
