Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI) is a long-established national charity, committed to improving maths education for all. We want everyone to receive an excellent maths education and to achieve well in the subject regardless of their background.
As part of our work, MEI is involved in the leadership and management of government-funded programmes to support maths education. We lead the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme and the FE Maths CPD Programme. We are also a lead partner in the government-funded National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics, which coordinates the work of the Maths Hubs Programme.

Scope and Purpose
As part of a Central Services team based at our Head Office in Trowbridge, you will assist with the maintenance of all employee HR and training administration.
The role is diverse and no two days are the same. You will be creative and innovative and enjoy working across a wide range of tasks. You will be required to work independently and be pro-active and flexible. It is essential that you demonstrate good communication skills that will allow effective communication with people within and external to MEI.
Main duties and responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Assist the HR Officer with the recruitment process including arranging interviews and candidate meetings; distributing documentation to interview panels; issuing invitations to interview, seeking references.
- Prepare correspondence following the recruitment process including offer letters and drafting employment contracts for approval.
- Process starters and leavers, and upkeep of HR records.
- Routine renewal of DBS checks, including checks of Associates and new DBS checks.
- Assist with right to work checks.
- Assist with employee inductions.
- Liaise with the HR Business Partner, line managers and MEI staff to schedule training.
- Monitor the MEI eLearning courses and send reminders to line managers to ensure the annual schedule of training is adhered to.
- In conjunction with the HR Business Partner monitor annual leave in order for HR to work with team leads to encourage staff members to book leave where necessary.
- Provide a high standard of organisational and administrative support.
- Work closely with payroll on an ongoing basis and maintain the monthly payroll spreadsheet and where necessary assist with payroll data entry.
- Support system improvements as required.
- Maintain the HR database and support line managers and employees in how to use myhrtoolkit where necessary
- Maintain the HR iLearn platform and support line managers and employees in how to use iLearn where necessary
- As and when required provide administrative support to the Central Services team.

Essential
- Experience of providing support and advice
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Experience of developing good employee relations and a positive working culture.
- Ability to work as a flexible team member, prioritising and contributing to the delivery of business objectives.
- Understanding of health and wellbeing practices that support attendance.
- Experience of managing and creating internal communications.
- Previous administration experience preferably within a HR environment
- Good IT skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Confidence to take own initiative following guidance
- Enthusiastic, friendly and professional manner
- Willingness to understand and develop in role
