About COPFS
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all crime in Scotland; the investigation of deaths which require further explanation; and the investigation of complaints against the police.
About COPFS
You will work, at least initially, within the HR Resourcing team, although there is always potential for staff to develop across other teams. HR Resourcing are responsible for facilitating staffing needs across all COPFS.
As a relatively small team we are open and adaptive to working from home as well as in office to help development and stay social. Our team’s success relies on valuing inclusion and shared knowledge from everyone and so you will be welcomed to ask questions and make suggestions while supporting others to do the same through weekly meetings and daily one to one contact.
It is an exciting time to join us ahead of expected long lasting changes that you will play a role in developing for our team and service wide. You will also meet and work alongside colleagues in the wider HR teams and COPFS service.
Job description
This is an exciting entry level opportunity, within the HR Resourcing team, for those looking to be part of an interesting and fast paced role.
You may be starting out in your career or already have an administrative background and looking for a change, but you should have an interest in HR.
You will be expected to work as part of a team to provide a first-class service to your colleagues and service users such as, potential applicants, other employer organisations and colleagues within COPFS.
Below is a list of typical responsibilities:
- Assisting with preparation and publication of job adverts
- Processing mailbox queries
- Provide support to recruitment campaigns
- Apply a ‘customer focussed’ approach to engaging with potential candidates and colleagues
- Maintaining intranet and external website Recruitment pages
Please note these are not exhaustive lists and other duties may be required as appropriate to the role.
Further opportunities may arise in other areas of our HR team including in HR Operations, supporting the needs of current employees, and Management Information providing key data used for decision making at all levels across the organisation. HR Administrators in these areas include similar duties and may be appointed to as a result of this exercise.

Essential Criteria
The competencies listed in this application pack form the key essential criteria.
Candidates will also be expected to demonstrate:
- The minimum entry qualifications are 5 National 5’s at grades A-C (including English) or equivalent; or demonstrable experience of general office work.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft application (in particular MS Word and MS Excel)
- A desire to work within HR
- Literacy and fluency in English

- An understanding of the work of COPFS
