Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.

AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job

As our Apprentice HR Administrator, you will be responsible for providing day to day HR administrative support as part of the HR team. You will spend time with each member of the team to ensure you are exposed to all HR disciplines, providing a well rounded experience of the full HR function.

As part of the Apprenticeship you will study and work towards a Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths (If required), a CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice and a Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship. You will attend college 1 day per week for a year to complete this, and we will support you and allow you time to focus on the qualification at other times as and when required. The college learning will be based at one of the Abingdon & Witney based colleges.

Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to continue to study for another 2 years to complete a HR Consultant Partner Level 5 Apprenticeship and gain a CIPD Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management. This will depend on business requirements and will be subject to minimum criteria set out by the learning provider and/or AHUK.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide HR administration support: drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, etc.

  • Maintaining HR databases on a regular basis to ensure employee records are accurate and up to date in a variety of HR systems

  • Assisting with HR induction for new staff and our on-boarding process

  • Maintaining employee files ensuring they are up to date; collect, compile and prepare documentation, draft reports under instruction and supervision

  • Dealing with general HR correspondence e.g. responding to requests for references, updating contracts, interview rejection emails

  • Assist with on-boarding new employees into the organisation

  • Participate in the recruitment process, arranging interviews, updating calendar invitations

  • Maintain existing spreadsheets and look for opportunities to improve

  • Update and maintain office documents; provide general administrative support

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Good working knowledge of IT packages

  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills

  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Familiar and proficient in use of Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google sites etc)

Education, Qualifications or Training

Essential

  • 4 GCSEs A*- C / 9 - 4

Desirable

  • A driving licence - due to the college being 14 miles away from our site.

Additional requirements

  • Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance
