Job description
The YMCA Robin Hood group provides temporary supported accommodation for young people, refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, children leaving care and vulnerable adults across Nottinghamshire in our network of transitionary homes and supported accommodation.
We are looking to recruit a new Housing Services Manager for Nottingham where you will have responsibility for this service area; the focus for this role is to coordinate and oversee a number of areas which ultimately feed into successful outcomes for our residents and well-maintained properties, managing long-term voids and personal charge collections.
You will be KPI driven and naturally looking for continual development/process improvement; we are really proud of all the work we do today but know there are improvements that can be made and refinements to be explored to finely tune our service area.
On a day to basis, you will
- Lead the team of Tenancy Sustainment Workers, ensuring they are meeting their KPIs and giving our residents all the support they require to achieve positive outcomes, using the homelessness outcome star framework.
- Manage the budget for your service area including staffing, equipment, funded projects etc.
- Manage the Team Leads and work closely with the Maintenance and Domestic teams to ensure properties are both turned around quickly for new residents but also are maintained to a high standard.
- Be pro-active in managing personal charges, housing benefit claims, occupancy, managing periods of voids and working closely with the Assessment teams to identify new suitable tenants.
- Provide support for incidents and complete investigations to identify learnings
- Manage the KPIs and analyse the data to prepare reports to provide insight on the effectiveness and performance of this service area.
- Drawing on your experience and knowledge to input information for new Bids
- Provide support or project manage newly funded projects.
This is a very varied role where truly, no two days are the same. You will be highly supportive of the teams that you directly and indirectly manage and look to bring everyone on the same journey of development and improvement; instilling a desire in everyone to do the very best they can to drive those positive outcomes for our residents.
Personally, you will be highly motivated to make a difference and a positive impact on the local communities our properties reside in, ensuring our residents can contribute, belong and thrive.
You will also use your own personal drive and personality to build relationships with external partners and stakeholders to leverage services which may be of use to our residents, but also to explore community initiatives our residents can get involved with too.
About You
First and foremost, you will be a brilliant communicator; whether dealing with your staff or our residents, you will be able to inspire, engage and motivate. You will be confident in 1-2-1 communication and in group settings, able to represent your service area at team and wider organisation meetings.
You might already have team leaderships skills from a previous role or looking to make that first step into management, we are happy to support your development.
We are ideally looking for someone with experience of working in housing management and/or supported housing services. If you had a recognised housing qualification this would be a highly desirable. Either through experience or qualification, you will have excellent knowledge of the welfare and benefits system, safeguarding, housing and homelessness legislation.
Possessing excellent conflict resolution skills, you will be a clear leader with excellent problem solving skills, be passionate about best practice and driving continuous improvement at an individual and team level for performance.
It is desirable that you have a full driving licence (as travel between our sites is required) but these can be accessed by public transport across Nottingham.
You will need to be confident managing budgets and exploring funding opportunities as well as designing and implementing policies, and reporting.
