About the role
We are looking to recruit new Housing Officers to join our friendly, vibrant, and supportive Tenancy Services team.
We welcome applications from both experienced Housing Officers and other candidates wanting a career in social housing who are enthusiastic and passionate about making a difference every day to the customers we serve.
Crawley Homes owns 8500 properties. We are at an exciting point in our journey taking forward the requirements of the Social Housing White Paper and striving to continually improve our services and engagement with our tenants.
We recognise the importance of work - life balance and offer flexible working hours and hybrid working; some days you’ll work in our brand-new offices and, once fully trained, some days you can work from home.
We offer support and bespoke training to enable you to excel in a career as a Housing Officer, giving you the skills to problem solve and the autonomy of managing your own patch of properties.
The Tenancy Services team is a busy one with no two days being the same. One day you may be contacting customers about their rent account, and the next you may be helping a customer who has experienced a fire in their home to move to temporary accommodation.
The Housing Officer role includes:
- letting properties to new tenancy
- dealing with non-payment of rent
- providing advice to maximise tenant income
- safeguarding and providing support to vulnerable tenants to sustain their tenancies
- addressing property condition issues
We are looking for candidates who possess excellent communication skills, can work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and have the ability to manage a ‘patch’ of properties independently.
Additional information
We have a variety of permanent, part time and fixed term posts currently available:
- full time roles will be required to work 37 hours per week
- the part time post is for 29.36 hours over 4 working days
In your application, please indicate whether you are interested in full time, part time, permanent or fixed term work.
This post is subject to a satisfactory clearance of a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Full current UK driving licence and use of a suitable vehicle are required.
Employee benefits
We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.
Our way of working
Our shared values and behaviours reflect the special nature of our council. We encourage all colleagues to put them into practice, whatever job they do. Take a look to see if we are the perfect match.
Safer recruitment
Crawley Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.
